Sound and Movement Therapy is intended to enable a deep and unfolding conversation with the physical, emotional and mental levels of being.
Receiving a soundbath is lovely but sometimes participants need to gain more understanding and work towards release through gentle movement. This dynamic approach encourages the body to go into an altered state of consciousness.
An ASC is a natural everyday occurrence that happens when the brainwaves go into a lower frequency across many areas of the brain, resulting in day-dreamy sensations. These screen-saver modes that we go into during the day enable the system to rebalance and result in chemical balance and mental refreshment.
In a time of isolation and disconnection we can lose our sense of place, it can be helpful to listen to the soundscape around you. Notice the sound of birds, insects, any living animal.
Take your attention to the trees, wind, ocean, rain etc. If you are in a more urban setting perhaps there are sounds created by people such as traffic, machinery, human voices.
Close your eyes and stretch your awareness as far as you can first and then open your eyes. This sequence brings you back to the present in times where our minds wander far.
