This Dance workshop is on 'Taki Taki' as I was inspired by Galen Hooks' Dance workshop last weekend and I wanted to share with you the energy. Galen Hooks is an amazing American choreographer, she started dancing professionally for Hollywood since she was a child, more as a Tap Dancer but she is known for her incredible Modern, subtle and elegant dance styles.
As a Dancer, I am quite the opposite - very full on aka a very energetic Dance Warrior - but for a few years now, I have been trying to develop more my feminine side of me which does not necessarily mean 'sexy' or MTV Dance commercials like... Although Galen Hooks has worked for famous Artists such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Janet Jackson etc... Galen Hooks's method on being present in the movement, giving character to facial expressions, her slow, elegant and subtle movements have inspired me to adapt 'Taki Taki' into my Afro - Oriental Dance style in my Afro Dance Fusion workshop. Being a student this year at Irie Dance Theatre, I will be adding more and more corner work as well as the Afro-fusion Dance Theatre Technique in my Afro Dance Fusion workshops.
This is our last Afro Dance Fusion workshop of the year and this is an invitation to join me this afternoon. I will be bringing the Belly Dancing Belts and African wraps but you are more than welcome to bring your own.
