Happy International Day, Dance Lovers!!

Writer's picture: AwaAwa

Dear Dance Lovers, how have you been?!? This Monday, we are celebrating International Dance Day!!

Today, I have 'Tutorial' with my Young Refugees; so I will be lecturing a "Special Lecture" on 'Diversity, Arts & Culture: International Dance Day!' My Young Refugees will indeed be discovering that: “International Dance Day takes place on 29th April every year. This day is significant as it is the anniversary of the birth of Jean-Georges Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet.” (Wikipedia)

“In 1982, the International Theatre Institute, an organisation founded under the auspices of UNESCO, declared April 29 to be an International Dance Day, a day designated to celebrate the most primitive and yet the most refined form of expression that has been the rite of passage of every community across the globe.” (The Hindu)

My students' task will be to write about their favourite traditional dance from their country of origin (s).

Just sharing in case there are teachers out there, still wondering how they could improve their lesson plan for today; so really hope this helps...

My dearest Saturday (Full House) class, once again I am sorry I've had to miss so many Saturdays due to my Dance rehearsals and shows from Indian Dance to Oriental Dance, this season has been delightfully busy:

However, Dearest Dance Lovers, we will be back to normal this Saturday at 11 am, Dance with AWA!, in New Addington!!

You will be delighted to know that we are starting a new class on Saturdays at 12:15pm:

WISHING YOU A HAPPY INTERNATIONAL DANCE DAY, DANCE LOVERS!!

Amazing Awa ! I didn’t know it was international dance day .

Wouldn’t it be fantastic

If the world was given a day off

To go dancing

As dance fills us with inner happiness, and confidence

Takes you to another world

Boy man woman or girl

Awa what a wonder

To attend your classes

Awa Zumba

Was fantastic

That was my discovery

Of the best Zumba class ever

I’d turned up on a Saturday

Whatever the weather

If it had rained;

The class , the music

Felt like sunshine , healed any metal pain

Reversed the weight gain .

If I felt blue

I’d come out , energetic , renewed

From the mixture

Latin, drums or salsa

Fantastic.

If you…
