Dear Mindful Humans,

On 20th August, we gather to fly our kites for “an epic aerial act of solidarity and togetherness, help us fill the skies with colour (...)" (Afghanaid) in solidarity with Refugees, Asylum Seekers, Migrants who I basically consider like you and me, "World Citizens".

Unfortunately, Refugees & Asylum Seekers have encountered traumatic circumstances so they and their children can live in so called 'safer and welcoming countries' in the West... The UK has always been recognised by internationals to be kind and welcoming, which is also one of the things that I personally love about the UK and I would sincerely appreciate that you join us and share this generous and compassionate tradition!!

Flying kites represent freedom as well as the ability to live wherever the wind takes us. I truly believe that just like any species we should all be able to choose wherever we would like to live safely and peacefully.

This annual celebration has been offered by Good Chance Theatre, you may have heard of them through Little Amal, the giant little girl puppet walking around the world for Peace &/or for their amazing play called, 'The Jungle' which we would be reading on Sunday 20th August. This is a day of solidarity for Women, Men and Children who are still suffering from neglect, racism and discrimination from most governments and too many inhumane societies, ideologies & policies.

As you have been part of our mindful community, you appreciate as much as we do the practice of thinking, speaking and acting mindfully as well as to prioritise our mental and physical health; when we feel emotionally strong and when there is time & energy, what an altruistic mindset and lifestyle it becomes to support those in need of physical and emotional safety... What an authentic way to show loving kindness, peace, harmony, care, interest and support in a gathering such as the one we are hosting on Sunday 20th August in solidarity with the Refugees and the Asylum Seekers.

This is a free event for all, so you are more than welcome to come with your friends and family. As you can imagine, Refugees and Asylum Seekers would not necessarily have the means to make or afford to buy the kit to make their own kites and some participants may know not how to make kites, therefore we are offering free Kite- Making Workshops FREE for Refugees & Asylum Seekers (everyone else, please make sure you donate), it is a great way to socialise, to learn from each other and to get ready for the 'Fly With Me Event'!! The workshops will be held on Tuesday 8th August; Sunday 13th August and Tuesday 15th August. To find out more and/ or to register, please email: theojascentre@gmail.com

Dance Warriors if you are free and would like to join us, we will be dancing on 'Jama Narenji', the Freedom of Movement choreography. If you have not learnt it and/ or would like to join our dance rehearsals, please email: theojascentre@gmail com
